They’ve been an incredible sensation since the mid-'70s! The Los Angeles Azules have entertained the Latin music circuit since their emergence. Today, they remain an influential and sought-after live act in the cumbia scene. The group’s band members comprise musicians from the Mejia Avante clan, including Alfredo, Elias, Jose Hilario, Cristina, Jorge, and Guadupe. Los Angeles Auzles has grown in popularity over time thanks to their incredible versatility and various music styles. During the late ‘90s, the group released their biggest hit, Como Te Voy A Olvidar.
Los Angeles Azules has collaborated with numerous renowned Mexican musicians, including Carla Morrison, Ximena Sariñana, and Lila Downs. By 2014, the group had pioneered a new style of cumbia called cumbia sinfonica. The group performed with the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra, introducing their renditions of contemporary music hits. The group also infused contemporary music with the 1950s style of cumbia with influences from ‘90s electronica.
That same year, the re-recorded issue of Como Te Voy A Olvidar peaked at number 5 on the Mexican charts. By 2016, the band started collaborating with Mexican superstars, including Gloria Trevi and Natalia Lafroucade. Since 1984, the band has released over 20 studio albums, their latest being Cumbia del Corazon, released in 2022.
Los Angeles Azules has been enjoyed by millions of fans across the world, including regional music lovers in the U.S. In 2018, the band wowed the crowd with their outstanding take on cumbia at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
